Foundations and Year 1\2 Nativities

I would like to say a big well done to the staff and children involved in the Foundation and year 1\2 nativities. Everyone had worked really hard to put on such tremendous productions. I also appreciate the support from parents. We have to organise the numbers very closely in the school hall for various regulations and your co-operation enables the shows to go ahead successfully.

Carol Concert Tuesday 16th December. St George’s Church

We move on to the year 3 and 4 Carol Concert, supported by the Phase 2 choir. We have 2 performances at 2.00pm and 6.00pm at St George’s Church. Parents are welcome and there is no need for tickets for these two events.

Could children all bring a coat to school on Tuesday as we will have to walk to St George’s Church. We will also need all the children back for the evening performance

Christmas Continues…….

Next week we have Christmas Dinner on Wednesday 17th December. Phase 1 children will have an opportunity to see a Pantomime from a touring theatre company in school that morning. On Thursday 18th December we will take all the Phase 2 children to the cinema for their Christmas treat.

Term Dates

We break up on Friday 19th December and children return on Tuesday 6th January. (Monday 5th January is a PD Day in school.)The school then breaks up on Friday 13th February for the half term holiday (Note this is not a PD day as it has been in past years.)

Autumn Term Assessments.

Your children may have told you they have been having some assessment tests over the previous few weeks. This is a new initiative this year. These tests will replace the mid-term assessments carried out in January. We will feedback progress and set targets for children for parents’ evening which will be on February 2nd and 3rd.

We will be reporting children’s attainment from year 1 as levels this spring; however, with changes to government policy all school will need new systems in place by September 2015. We will keep parents informed of these changes as they develop over the year.

Charity Support

I have been approached by a parent in school to ask for your support for a worthwhile cause. ‘The Sun’s Gonna Shine on You’ is a CD to raise funds for Lauren who has a rare immune deficiency. Full details at; www.facebook.com/bonemarrowmatchforlauren
