Welcome Back

I would like to welcome everyone back to school for the Summer term. I have included a timetable of the term as part of this Friday Flyer. Paper copies are available from the school office. We will certainly add other events to the timetable as the term goes on.

Children Late for School

During last term we have been having a number of children late for school. Parents have a legal responsibility to get children in school ready to start on time. Children should be on the school site ready to walk into school at 8.45am Children start work as soon as they come into the classrooms. This may be early work or the crucial ‘Morning Maths’ sessions. If particular children are regularly missing these important learning opportunities, this will impact significantly on their performance in school.

School Swimming Starts Monday 20th April

Children from year 3 to 6 will start swimming on Monday. Children will need their swimming kit in a waterproof bag. (A carrier bag inside a normal bag is ideal.) We will cater for all swimming abilities during the session; however, if you have particular concerns please contact the school.

Cricket Club Parking

St George’s Cricket Club have agreed to allow parents to use the car park in a morning. Parents can park at the club and walk down. This agreement has been arranged by Telford and Wrekin Road safety Officers. Their advice is that year 5 and 6 children could walk down themselves but could all children been seen safely across the road immediately outside the cricket club by an adult.

Road Safety Survey

The school has various initiatives around road safety at the moment. Various year groups have been doing ‘Bike ability. Year 4 will have a ‘Stepping Out’ programme to help with pedestrian safety. Telford and Wrekin road Safety Officers have talked to all the children in assemblies. Children were given a Road safety Questionnaire before the end of the last term. Could they please be returned by Friday 1st May. Copies are available from the school office.

Gower Street Memories Day Saturday 25th April

The community group in St George’s who are looking to develop the Gower Street Buildings are holding an exciting event at the Parish Rooms on Saturday 25th April between 10.00am and 1.30pm. People are invited to bring in memorabilia from Gower Street for a community display. Full details are on the poster on the school website and round the community.
