Christmas Dinner- Wednesday 16th December
We will be counting numbers for Christmas Dinner next week. Could you please discuss with your child if they would like a dinner or would prefer to bring sandwiches.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Fair last Friday. We raised £1110 from the evening. A special word for Mrs Smith who has organised the Christmas Fairs for as long as anyone can remember. This will be her last Christmas Fair as she has announced her retirement at the end of this academic year.
Part of the money raised this year will go towards music provision in school with the purchase of a suitable modern key board to replace some aging pianos.
Christmas Tree Auction
We had a bit of fun at the end of the Christmas Fair by auctioning off the school Christmas tree. The auction stands at £7. You may continue to bid up to Wednesday 16th December. Please ring your bid into school. We will update with the text on the state of the bidding. The decorations are not included (we will need those next year) and the tree must be collected. The money will go along with the rest of the funds raised at the Christmas Fair.
Children in Need
The school raised £335 for Children in Need with the recent mufti day.
Staff Changes in January
We have some staff changes in January. Mrs Cooper will be leaving St George’s for a teaching post in the West midlands. Mrs Cooper has been a highly valued member of staff who has always been popular with the children. We wish her well in her new post. Mrs Holt will be returning from maternity leave next week. She will work alongside Mrs Cooper in year 5 for the remaining two weeks of term and then take over Mrs Cooper’s role in year 5 from January.
St George’s School U10 football team got off to a winning start in the first round of the Shropshire Cup. They played three games in the round robin tournament; winning two and drawing one. They will now progress to the next round. Well done Mr Porteous and the boys.
Well done to Kahlia Johnson and Lacie Corbett from 4H who competed in the Midlands Street Dance Championships. They finished fourth and have now qualified for the 2016 World Championships and Six Nations.
I need to remind parents that children need their PE kit in school for all PE sessions. This includes trainers as part of the PE curriculum is outdoors.
Brain Tumour Charity Fun Day this Saturday
A group of parents at school are holding an Indoor Car Boot Craft Fair and Fun Day at Hadley Methodist Church on Saturday 5th December between 10.30am and 1.30pm. All the money raised will go towards the Brain Tumour Charity.
School Fund Accounts
As part of audit regulations that cover all schools we need to inform you that the school fund accounts have been audited and copies are available in school on request.
School Parent Questionnaires and After School clubs Arrangements
Thank you to all the parents who have sent in the questionnaires. Could any remaining questionnaires be forwarded to school by Wednesday 9th December.
We will do a detailed analysis of all the returns. In response to the initial assessment of the responses we have changed the organisation for clubs and after school activities. We will be sending information to you with all the clubs available before the end of this term. This should improve the communication around after school activities.
Drum and Guitar Lessons
We still have opportunities for children with drum and guitar tuition in school. If parents wish to take these opportunities for their children please contact the school office for details.
