Thank you to all the staff that supported the two ‘School Discos’ this week. The money raised will go towards new playground equipment for the children. It was very evident that the children enjoyed the music and their dancing!!
School Council and Staff Appointments:
On Friday last week St George’s School appointed two new members of staff. We are planning to reduce the size of the teaching sets in Phase 2 next year. I will send out more details to parents as we finalise plans for September. I want to mention the role the School Council, led by Mrs Tyas, played in the interview process. The School Council interviewed all the candidates and then fed back to the interview panel their thoughts on the potential teachers for St George’s. Whilst they did not have the final say on who was appointed, the interview panel of senior managers and governors took their views into consideration in making their appointments. The attitude and approach of all the School Councillors was wonderful. They showed astute intelligence and great maturity during the whole process.
Cross Country Telford Town Park:
We had another successful round of the Telford Cross Country League this Wednesday. A great team performance with Lewis Heeley the star individual winning his year 4 boys race.
Easter Assembly in St George’s Church:
We have had our Easter assembly Service at St George’s Church. All the children’s singing was wonderful but a special mention to the children in the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Choirs.
Cricket Coaching at St George’s Cricket Club:
The cricket season approaches and St George’s Cricket Club have opportunities for junior coaching. Boys and girls from year 2 to year 6 are welcome. Registration evening is Monday 13th April at 6.30pm. Coaching nights start on Monday 27th from 6.30pm. For further information contact Malcolm Webster on 07956545088.
Lockers Replacing Coat Pegs:
Over the Easter holiday period we will be having individual lockers replacing the coat pegs and cloakrooms. This change is designed to enable children to look after their belongings and create a tidier school. We hope that the new locker system will ensure we do not have as many lost items of clothing. Children will not need keys to their new lockers.
We break up today for the Easter holidays today. Children return to school on Monday 13th April.
Year 6 children have Easter School during the holiday on Monday 30th March and Tuesday 31st March.
