The school has held its own General Election yesterday. The parties did their electioneering following the ‘Election assembly’ last Friday. All the children voted in our polling station set up in the small hall. The parties were all in colours and the children filled in their ballot paper confidentially as we do in the ‘other’ General Election. The votes were then counted overnight and although David Dimbleby is not available to announce the results, I can give you the results myself for the constituency of St George’s: St George’s has elected the YELLOW Party but would like to congratulate all the children who were involved. A particular thanks to Mr Porteous and Miss Tidman who organised the parties and Mrs Tyas and her School Council for managing the election process.

Cross Country Results

We now have the results from the Cross Country. St George’s came third overall with some tremendous individual performances. I have set these out below. Remarkably St George’s won the year 3 boys, year 4 boys and year 5 boys team event. Once again well done to everyone who took part and to staff who supported this event.

Girls Football Final

Our girl’s football team managed by Miss Tidman played in the Telford Cup Final at the Buck’s Head ground on Tuesday this week. Unfortunately we came up against a superb Newport Juniors Team. This is the second year we have been runners up in this competition. The performance and attitude of all the girls was wonderful and they all enjoyed the opportunity to play in a proper football stadium.

Arthog Trips Payment

We have a number of parents who have not yet paid for their Arthog Trips this year. We will be contacting parents individually. Could all outstanding monies for Arthog please be paid by the Whit holiday. The school has a policy of following up all significant debt through the small claims court via the Local Authority.

KitBag Holiday Club

Mr Porteous is starting an exciting venture to offer sport and other activities during the summer holiday. The club will be known as KitBag. This is planned for the first week of the summer holiday- 20th July to 24th July. Full details can be obtained from Mr Porteous and will appear on the school website.

Monday 18th May to Friday 22nd May is walk to school week. We have attached an information poster for parents. The Junior Road Safety Officers in school have been working with Miss Bibi to prepare for this event alongside the Local Authority Road Safety Officers.
