Olympic Medal Winning Archer in School
We are very fortunate to have Mel Clarke a double Olympic medal winner from Beijing and London in school on Thursday this week. She has presented to all the children in assembly and focussed on ‘goal setting and achievement’ with our year 6. Mel has also led some Archery Master Classes with children in school. The day was a real inspiration to all our children. We have attached a picture of Mel with some of the children in school.
Phase 2 Visit to the Vienna Festival Ballet Theatre Performance of ‘Coppelia’
The school will be taking all of years 3, 4, 5 & 6 to the ‘The Place’ Theatre, Oakengates for a special performance of the ballet ‘Coppelia’ performed by the Vienna Festival Ballet.
The trip will take place on Tuesday 13th October. There is no cost to parents for this wonderful experience. Please note that the school day will be slightly longer for Phase 2 children on that day. We are not expected back until approximately 3.45pm.
Open morning- Tuesday 6th October
Tuesday 6th October is Open Morning at St George’s. We invite parents across the school to come into school to see us working on a normal morning. Parents will not be expected to disturb the teachers or to distract children. You are welcome to come into lessons across the school not just the class your children are in.
We have parents evening on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th October for Phase 1 and 2 children. Parents in nursery and reception will also have an opportunity to book appointments on Wednesday 21st October. We believe the dialogue between parents and teachers is crucial to your child’s success. This year the English education system has changed the assessment system. I highlighted this on your school reports from last year. We will explain the changes at these meetings. Class teachers will send out letters for you to book appointment times.
