School Swimming Starts on Monday
All children in years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will be going swimming through the summer term starting on Monday 18th April. We will text you a reminder on Sunday evening and Monday morning. All standards of swimming will be catered for, including children who may never have been swimming before. Children need to bring a swimming costume and towel in a water proof bag. A plastic bag inside a PE bag is fine. Swimming goggles are a good idea if you have them. Please note deodorants and hair products will not be needed!
Summer Term Timetable
I have included a timetable for the summer term as part of this Friday Flyer. This outlines the main event for the summer term. Any additional activities will be in the weekly Friday Flyers.
Year 6 SATS preparation and Easter School
The vast majority of our year 6 children attended Easter School during the last holiday. Well done to all the children and staff; they all seemed to enjoy it. I must say we are extremely proud of the attitude of our year 6 children as they approach SATS week from the 9th May. They have worked exceptionally hard in class, attended booster after school and set a wonderful example of staying calm under pressure. I know their teachers are delighted with them and feel they are well prepared to do their very best in their national tests.
Sandwich option for School Lunch.
A reminder to parents that we now have a sandwich option instead of a hot dinner at lunchtime. There is a choice of cheese or ham. If you are interested please collect a form from the school office. This needs to be in by the end of school day on the Thursday of the week before.
Telford Cross Country League
Unfortunately the run at Telford Rugby Club was cancelled this week due to a waterlogged course. We are hoping for better luck with next week’s race at Chetwyn Park. Please keep an eye on text messages during the early part of next week.
Changes to Nursery Hours- opportunity for parents from September.
From September we will be having a more flexible offer for time in nursery. At present parents are restricted in choice to either mornings or afternoons. We are now planning to give parents other options of a variety of half day slots spread over the week. We are hoping this may fit parent’s working patterns more conveniently. We will still be offering the standard five mornings or five afternoons. Full details will come out with next week’s Friday Flyer.
Thank you to all the parents who have settled their outstanding payments for the Arthog trips. If you have yet to do so please contact the school office next week. The school will be getting in touch with all parents with outstanding debt after next week to arrange payments. If debts are still not paid legal procedures will be followed.
Year 6 Arthog Trip September 2016.
Children in year 5 will have received letters this week so parents can request a place on the September trip as children start their final year at school. Please return the slips so we can manage numbers and organise groups. If any parents have questions about the week residential trip please contact Mr Tyas at school. There is a meeting for parents on Wednesday 29th June at 3.30pm in the school hall.
Arriving on Time in School
We have worked very hard with children this week to ensure everyone is in school by 8.45am to start work. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Could all parents ensure their children on in school, outside their classroom ready to go in at 8.45 am.
Girls Football Week
We will be holding Girls Football Week from Monday 25th April to Friday 29th April. There will be a variety of activities to encourage girls to play football and get active.
St George’s venue for FA Skills Course
We are delighted to have been chosen to host FA Skills Courses starting on Thursday 21st April at school. The sessions will start with boys and girls from 4:30-5:30. From 5.30 to 6.30 it will be girls only. To book a place please follow the link, or for more information contact the school office.
This opportunity is open to children from across Telford but we expect many St George’s children will want to take part.
