New Flexible Offer for Nursery from September 2016
I highlighted in last week’s Friday Flyer changes to times for nursery from September 2016. This is to try and accommodate parents’ work patterns and provide flexibility.
Note the existing mornings or afternoons will still be available.
We have included an offer of a 3.20 finish to bring finishing times in line with school. There will be a cost of £3 for this as it will take the time over the 15 hours free nursery provision.
When parents book their children into nursery we will be asking what times they would want. Existing nursery children who are due to stay in nursery in September will be contacted to book their times.

Options for Nursery
8.30-11.30 every day
12.20-3.20 every day
8.30-2.30 x 2 days and either 8.30-11.30/12.20-3.20 for 1 session (cost per day for lunch)
8.30-3.20 x 2 days and either 8.30-11.30/12.20-3.20 for 1 session (cost per day for lunch and extra 50 minutes per day)

School Swimming
School swimming went well last week. I need to remind children and parents that hair products are not needed after swimming. There will be no swimming on Monday 9th May due to year 6 SATS.

Telford Cross Country League
Well done to all the children who took part in Wednesday’s cross country race at Chetwynd Park. A particular well done to Charlie Preece who has won all three of his races so far this year. We have yet to hear if the Telford Rugby Club event will be re-organised. I will give a full list of results when we get confirmation of the end of the cross country season.

Year 3 Mrs Branford
Mrs Branford will be leaving us to go on maternity leave on 6th May. Mrs Hurst will take the class for three days a week and Mrs Foxley for two days a week. This will provide continuity for the class with two teachers the children know well.
Mr Blair’s class will be covered on a Friday by Miss Hedges. Miss Hedges has worked across various classes in school over the last few years and knows the school.

Girls Football Week
Next week is Girl’s Football Week. We have various football activities for all the girls in school. Can parents ensure their children have trainers in school alongside their normal PE kit.

Sun Protection in School
Hopefully we will have some sunshine this term at school. We advise that if children are sensitive to the sun they wear long, loose clothing and have a wide brimmed hat in school with them. Parents can apply sun cream before school; however, school cannot put sun cream on for children. Children should not have cream themselves in school. If the summer days get especially hot we will provide appropriate shade during playtimes.

Class Photograph Day
Next Thursday is class photograph day in school. All the classes will be having their photographs taken. These photographs will be then on sale for parents. Significant proceeds go to school funds to support various aspects of school life.  Could parents please ensure that children are wearing black or white socks.

Pupil Premium Entitlement
A reminder to parents that children entitled to pupil premium get all educational visits free of charge. This includes the residential trip to Arthog. If you think you may be entitled to pupil premium please contact the school office and they can support you with your application.
The school receives £1800 per child to support them in their education. St George’s has won national awards in the last two years for the attainment and progress of our children who are entitled to pupil premium. Please make sure your child is not missing out.

FA Coaching at St George’s
There are still places on the football coaching sessions on Thursday evenings at St George’s school. Se the link below or contact the school office.

Termly timetable on the School Website
We have put the summer term timetable of events on the school website as a PDF file to enable parents to download. This will provide a convenient way to keep up with events this term. Please note there is an amendment to one of the dates. The second Secondary Transfer day is Friday 1st July not Friday 31st June. Sorry for any confusion.

May Day Holiday next weekend Saturday 30th to Monday 2nd May
Schools will be having a long weekend next week with the May Day Holiday. Children will return to school on Tuesday 3rd May.

John Lote Memorial Fund
There will be a fundraising event in aid of the Brain Tumour Charity on Sunday 22nd May 1:30pm – 4:30pm at 1st Priorslee & St Georges Scout Group, Snedshill Way, Telford TF2 9QQ. Donations for the sweets and bottle stalls would be most welcome, please give these to Mrs Annett as soon as possible. There will be lots of other fun stalls including Face Painters and Potters Wheel and a Karate display.   Please come along and support this deserving charity.
