Friday Flyer on line at stgeorgescofe.education
Thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Fair. We raised over £1330 during the evening. This money will go towards supporting the children’s education at St George’s. A big thankyou to the three choirs that performed. The children and staff involved did an excellent job. We are going to look at some different arrangements next year to prevent some of the crowding around the hall at the start of the fair.
St George’s Christmas Light Switch On
The senior choir opened the St George’s Christmas light switch on last Friday. It was wonderful to be part of this community event.
Christmas Nativities so far.
We have now completed six nativity performances so far. The children have been marvellous, supported by their hard working teachers. I would like to express my appreciation with the support from the school community. We have had to ticket the performances in the school hall. This means some family members have not been able to see children perform. With your co-operation we have been able to accommodate as big an audience as possible, whilst at the same time giving children room to perform. (Including the camel in year 5/6 production!)
Year 3/4 Carol Concert- Tuesday 13th December
All the children in years 3 and 4, plus the senior choir, will be taking part in the Carol Service at St George’s Church on Tuesday 13th December at 2.00pm. Parents and family are welcome to join us. There is no restriction on tickets for this event at the church. Children performing will need to come with coats for the day as we will be walking up to church.
Christmas Assembly in the Church
On Friday 16th December the whole school will be going to St George’s Church for our Christmas assembly. Parents are welcome to join us for this event. Please contact school if you intend to attend so we can manage numbers in the church.
Please note this event will be subject to the weather as we will be walking the whole school to church.
Football- St George’s
Last Wednesday we played the quarter final of the Telford Cup against Apley School. Unfortunately we were beaten by a very good Apley team. The boys played exceptionally well and the St George’s attitude to sport that we expect was there throughout.
This Wednesday the girl’s team played in a local tournament. Miss Hedges reported an excellent attitude and performance. Well done.
Christmas Dinner Day with a Christmas Jumper.
Don’t forget we have a Christmas Jumper Charity Day on Wednesday 14th December to coincide with Christmas Dinner Day. Please send in a donation to school that we will forward to the Teenage Cancer Trust. This is a cause that has touched one of our St George’s families recently.
Year 5 Arthog trip
A reminder to year 5 parents that we need the consent forms with full details from all children going on the Arthog trip at the start of next term. Parents are asked to pay the £30 deposit before the end of term. Full payment will be due by Easter. If parents have any issues regarding the trip please contact Mr Tyas at school.
We finish for Christmas on Friday 16th December. Children return on Wednesday 4th January.
