Year 1 Artist in Residence- We Need Socks and Wool !!

Year One have been given the opportunity to take part in an Art project this year. The children will work with an Artist in Residence to produce a piece of art work linked to Forest Schools.

We would be grateful if you can provide any old/odd socks (not patterned but stripy or spotty is good!) and wool to help resource this project. Please send your sock and wool in with your children who can take them down to Miss Bibi and Miss Picken in year 1.

On Wednesday 2nd March we have an opportunity for families at school to have their photographs taken. This will take place in the small hall between 2.00 and 4.00pm. Please come up to school with any siblings you wish to be on the photographs. On Thursday 3rd March we will be taking individual photographs and siblings in school. Please let the school office know if you want any particular family group.

The photographs will be on sale with a substantial percentage of the cost going to school fund.

Extended Learning Events this Half Term

Telford Cross Country League 2016

We are approaching the time for the Cross Country League again. There are four races either side of Easter on Wednesdays after school. St George’s has always put strong teams in this event and had great success. We will be holding the trials for places in the team on Wednesday 2nd March during school (Weather permitting.) The first event is on Wednesday 16th March. Mrs Sweeney and Mr Blair will be sending out details to children

St George’s World Book Day

St George’s will be holding our ‘World Book Day’ on 4th March. (The official day is the 3rd but we have various events on that day in school.) Children will be encouraged to bring their favourite book into assembly and various activities will take place in the classrooms.

Lunch Times at St George’s

We will be changing some of the arrangements for lunch times at school. We are hoping to give children a better experience during lunch times in school. We will be zoning off areas of the playground for football. Other activities such as construction club and film club will be made available during lunchtimes. Catering will also be providing a sandwich option for children alongside the cooked meal. Details of this will come out to parents over the next few weeks.

In order to promote healthy eating we will be continuing to award a ‘Lunch Box of the Week’. This will start with Reception this week.

Visit to School by Local MP

Many of you will remember during last year’s General Election, St George’s held our own election. We said to the children that we would then invite the local MP into school to talk to the children involved alongside the School Council. This will take place on Friday 4th March. She will talk through how Parliament works to our year 6 children and meet Phase 2 children in assembly.

PE Kit in School

Can I continue to remind parents that children need their PE Kit in each day at school. I will be doing some spot checks next week throughput school. Children do need their trainers for outdoor PE alongside their shorts and T shirts.

Mrs Lote’s Sponsored run

My name is Tracy Lote and I've had a connection with the school for the past 9 years. My youngest child, Jodie is in year 6.

I'm currently in training for The Ironbridge half marathon on Sunday 13th March 2016. I set myself this challenge back in September as a way to raise awareness & money for a charity which is sadly close to my heart, The Brain Tumour Charity.

If you would like to sponsor me & read more behind why I'm running for this charity. Please visit my Just giving page.

Mother’s Day Tea Party

Reception children are holding a Mother’s Day tea party next week. Friday 4th March from 2.15pm onwards. Please note this event if for reception children only, unfortunately we have to restrict the invite to one guest per child.
