School Music Concert for MS Society
Thank you to everyone who has bought tickets for the School Music Concert on 12th July. We have distributed extra tickets to children in school. The various bands and choirs will start at 1.30pm in the main school hall.
The winners of the year 3&4 sports Day were the RED Team. The overall winners were also the RED Team. Well done to all the children who took part, especially those for whom Sports Day is not easy. Congratulations to the winners of the races, we really have some exceptional athletic talent across the whole school. A thankyou from me as Headteacher to the staff of the school who have put in so much time and effort to make all 5 events successful. Reports Out on Friday 15th July
Reports for all children will come out next Friday. The changes made to the primary school curriculum and assessment procedures are now fully in place. Children in year 2 and 6 who took national tests will get a result as a scaled score. 100 is deemed to be at the expected standard for a child of that age. Please note for all subjects except writing that is all the results tell us at this point. The school will be sending out a report sheet for all children from year 1 to year 6. This will indicate more closely where your child’s learning has reached. We have a 5 point scale:
Working Towards child not yet working within a year group expectation.
Developing child working within year group expectation but not yet achieving all aspects.
Secure child securely working within a year group expectation
Exceeding child exceeding what would normally be expected in the year group.
Excelling an exceptional child who is significantly exceeding year group expectation.
Parents may have picked up in the press that nationally year 6 results are significantly worse this year across the country. I would like to stress at this point that this is not the case at St George’s. Our year 6 children have done exceptionally well again, supported throughout the year by a wonderful staff team. The school results will be published in the normal way during the autumn term.
