St George’s Charity Event Summer 2016 for multiple Sclerosis
Each year we have a major charity event in school. This year we are arranging a walking challenge up the Wrekin on Saturday 9th July in aid of Multiple Sclerosis.
We will also be taking the walking challenge into school with all children walking round the school field.
Look out for more details after half term on the Friday Flyers.

Telford Cross Country League Results
St George’s came 2nd in the Telford Cross Country League in 2016. Well done to all the children who took part. We had further team and individual success. The boys’ team won in year 3 and 5. The girls’ year 6 team also won their trophy.
Individual successes were numerous with Freddie Preece year 3 boys champion. Charlie Preece the year 5 boys champion with Lewis Heeley 8th and Jack Sylvester 10th. Sophie Tatton was 3rd and Maggie Preece was 8th in the year 6 girls. Briar Bateman 6th and James Perks 7th in the year 4 boys.
A special mention for the Preece family who made a great contribution to St George’s School results. Well done!

Artist in Residence and a Story Teller
We have been very fortunate this week to have both an artist in residence working with year 6 and a story teller working across the school. Year 6 children have produced a wonderful montage on a silk canvas with St George’s School at the centre of the universe. The story teller has been in each classroom from nursery to year 6 and has had children and staff of all ages enthralled.

St George’s Daily Run
Our year 6 children have done extremely well with the daily run. Most of them have gone ‘mufti’ for ‘dress down’ Friday having run 5 times in the week.
After half term we will be inviting our year 5 children to join the challenge. It is our intention to roll this out to year 4 later in the half term.

Year 2 Relationships and Sex Education Year 2 Parents’ Meeting
On Thursday 9th June at 3.30pm we will hold the information session for parents of year 2 children regarding the Relationships and Sex Education curriculum. We will show parents the video and teaching materials that we will deliver to the children. This is an approved scheme backed by the Department for Education, Local Authority and supported by our Church of England foundation.
We appreciate that for some parents this part of the curriculum can be a sensitive area. We therefore recognise that some parents may want to withdraw their children. If this is the case please put your request in writing to Mr Tyas.

St George’s PE Blog
Don’t forget to check out the St George’s PE blog. This includes details of the Euro 2016 Swap Shop on a Thursday lunchtime. http://stgeorgespeblog.primaryblogger.co.uk
Also, a big well done to the Tri golfers who now go through to the next round of their competition.
