Football Team start the season with a Win.

Well done to our school football team. They played very impressively to win the first round of the Shrewsbury tournament on Wednesday this week. I will keep parents up to date with all the boys and girls sports fixtures this year through the Friday Flyer.

School Council Elections

School Council elections took place this week in school. This important group in school represent all the classes and meets with Mrs Tyas on a weekly basis. They discuss key issues with Mrs Tyas that affect the children in school and then report to Mr Tyas and the school governors.

Their first task will be to analyse the pupil survey that took place at the end of last term. We will then take action on key points following the views of the children throughout school.

Arthog Year 5

Parents of children in year 5 need to return the slip to book a place on the January Arthog trip. If parents have any questions about the trip please contact Mr Tyas at school.

Artist in residence

Next week we have an ‘Artist in Residence’ coming into school to work with our year 2 and 3 children. The aim is to create a major piece of art work that will become a permanent feature of the year 2/3 block.

Daily Run Dress down day

Many children have been running every day this term. Their reward is a dress down day on Friday 30th September. The focus for this mufti day will be sports kit. Children will need to have run every day or made a significant effort with the daily run in order to be able to dress down. Class teachers will discuss this with them.

Attitude and behaviour

I would like to congratulate our children at school for their attitude at the start of the school year. About from a few isolated examples, the behaviour of children and their attitude to their work has been exemplary. We will continue to work with all our children and families to ensure children are focussed on their work in class and playing together successfully at playtime.

Open morning 4th Oct.

We will be holding an open morning on Tuesday 4th October from 8.45am to 11.30am. This is an opportunity for parents to come into school and see the school in action. Teachers will be fully engaged teaching classes so will not be able to discuss your children with you. You will be able to visit all the classrooms to get a sense of how the school operates every day.
