Final Friday Flyer of 2016.2017
This is the final Friday Flyer of 2016.2017. Thank you to all the school community for your support during the year. We will all start again in September in new classes and new teachers. Staff return on 4th September for a training day. All children start on Tuesday 5th September.
Year 6 Leavers’ Concert and Prize Giving.
Year 6 children did a marvellous performance of the musical theatre production of ‘Super Stan’ on Wednesday night. (Pictures will appear on the school website shortly.) The hall was packed with parents and family who gave great support during the evening.
We concluded the evening with presentation to all the children for their contribution to St George’s C of E Primary School. The two main school prizes were also given out: Owen Smith and Zoe Heighway shared the Academic Achievement award; Lily Price was presented with the George Raxster award for the ‘Greatest Contribution to School Life’. Curriculum awards will be presented in the church at the Leavers’ Assembly on Friday morning.
We wish all the leavers well as they move onto secondary school. St George’s will enjoy watching their progress over the years as they continue their journey in education.
School PE Kit
The t shirts for the new PE kit are ready for ordering now. The trousers and training tops will not be available until late October however can be pre-ordered if parents would like to do this. New prices are as follows:
T-Shirt - £8.99 Sweatshirt - £14.99 Trousers - £13.50
The current PE kit is still acceptable and we assume many children will wear this for some time to come. We envisage a gradual change to the new kit over a significant time period. Once the full kit is available the PE kit will become acceptable school uniform for most days in school. This should encourage our children to be ‘daily active’ in school.
Year 6 September Arthog trip
A reminder to parents of children going on the Arthog trip in September that we leave from Telford station on Tuesday 5th September. Please arrive no later than 8.30am.
If there are issues during the holiday the school needs to know about I will be in school from Tuesday 29th August to Friday 1st September. If any children who are currently not going decide they would wish to go, there are still places available.
Computer Coding Opportunity during the Holiday.
Local libraries are holding computer coding sessions during the holiday. (We know the school coding club has proved very popular.) For booking and more details please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01952 382992.
