Final Half Term this Year
This final half term is always a very busy time in school. I have therefore reprinted the timetable from the start of the summer term.
School Music Concert for Save the Children Charity now 11th July not 12th July. 1.30pm-note change to original timetable
Arthog September Trip Parents Meeting now 12th July not 11th July 3.30pm- note change to original timetable
School Sports Days: These events are all 9.30am starts on the school field apart from afternoon nursery and some reception children on 3rd July which will start at 1.30pm. Please note year 5/6 Sports Day is on 13th July to avoid clashing with year 6 transition days to secondary school. Full details of all the events will be sent out from class teachers.
Art Project and Story Teller
We have hired an artist in residence to come into school and work with children to create original art works around the toilet areas in school. We will also have a story teller in school during the same week beginning 3rd July.
Return of the Dragon
In the spring term our artist in residence created a huge St George’s dragon with the children. We lent the dragon to St George’s church for the St George’s day service. The dragon has now returned to school and will be displayed in the year 4&5 block.

Reception Children Cricket Club environmental project.
Some of our reception children are taking part in an environmental project at the cricket club. An area of land behind the pitches is being developed as a wildlife area. Once the main work has been completed our youngest children will be helping with the planting.
We had two teams at the local cricket tournament at St George’s this week. Both teams played really well with an excellent sporting attitude.
St George’s cricket club are still looking for new players on a Monday night. Children from year 2 are welcome at the club to learn to play cricket.
Daily Run Continue- Next Dress Down day 23rd June for runners.
Don’t forget the daily run. Keep running and earn the dress down day on 23rd June.
Team and Club Photographs
Sports teams and various club photographs were taken this Tuesday. These will be available to buy in the very near future, details will follow shortly. The sale of all photographs makes a significant contribution to school funds.
Year 6 Last Half Term
This last half term at St George’s is always a very special time for our year 6 children before they go on to secondary school in September. Their curriculum will reflect the broad and balanced approach we have to learning at St George’s. They are rehearsing very hard for their musical theatre performance on the last week of half term. There will also be a significant amount of sport and technology in their daily lessons.
It is crucial that all children continue to show a positive attitude to their final few weeks at primary school. We will be adopting a zero tolerance approach to any disruptive behaviour that potentially spoils this wonderful time for our school leavers.
Leavers’ Concert and Prize Giving
It is a long standing tradition at St George’s to hold a Leavers’ Concert at the end of term. Parents will receive two tickets for the show on Wednesday 19th July 6.00pm.
This year we will be celebrating all the children’s achievements and valuing the contribution they have made to their school during the evening performance. The two main prizes of ‘Outstanding Contribution to School’ and ‘Outstanding Academic Achievement’ will be presented on that evening.
Other school prizes will be presented on Friday 21st July at the Leavers’ Assembly in St George’s Church. Parents of those children receiving prizes will be informed prior to the event so they can make arrangements to join us if they wish.
