This start on Wednesday 29th March for year 5 & 6. Unfortunately, the year 3 &4 races have been dropped from this event. Years 3&4 will join the 5&6 at the second event at Town Park on 5th April. Further events are at the Telford Rugby Club on 26th April and Chetwyn Park on the 3rd May.
Year 5 January Arthog Video
We will be putting the Arthog trip video on the school sports blog and the school website over the next week. It gives parents a flavour of this January trip. The focus for the year 5 trip is team building and the environment. We will have a similar presentation for the year 6 trip which is the all action outdoor pursuits of climbing, canoeing etc.
Archery Team Winners
Mrs Sweeney took a team of archers to the Telford tournament. Our team won the event and now go forward to the Shropshire Games later in the year.
Senior Choir and Boys Choir
We had a very proud moment this week as two of our school choirs opened the Telford Music Service Showcase Concert on Tuesday night this week. The standard of singing is exceptional and we are delighted to see the all-boys choir performing in public for the first time. My thanks to all the staff and parents who supported the choirs on Tuesday night. We have a further Schools’ Concert later in the year at Telford Priory School.
We are starting to look at admission to nursery from September 2017. If you wish your child to have a place at St George’s nursery for 2017.2018 please contact the school office for a form. We now offer a flexible arrangement of various half day spread through the week as well as the traditional mornings or afternoons. Nursery at school is very popular so please contact us as soon as possible for a place.
Red Nose Day and Save the Children Appeal for East Africa
Every year we have a charity focus at school. This autumn we chose ‘Save the Children’. Many of you will have seen the harrowing news of famine in East Africa. Save the Children, along with many other major international charities, are making a direct appeal for donations to support starving people in East Africa. The school will collect any donations you wish to give and send them directly to Save the Children. Usually we wait to the end of the year to give our money over. Because of the severity of the crisis we will forward all donations immediately. If you wish to donate, please send your donations in with your children or call in at the school office.
I have set out a link to the Save the Children appeal website:
We will be holding our usual Red Nose Day Mufti on 24th March. Any mufti will do for the day with a donation to the Red Nose appeal.
Thank you to the parents who attended the Open Morning this week. I hope you got an insight into the running of the school on a typical day.
