Year 6 SATs Week

Next week is year 6 SATs week. All the children will be doing tests from Monday to Thursday. The children have been exceptionally well prepared by the staff in year 6 and are ready to do their best. During the week I will not be available to see parents as I usually am first thing in the morning. Please make an appointment at the office if you need to see me.

Can year 6 parents make sure children get a restful weekend and some early nights next week. For years at St George’s children have taken the SATs in their stride. We simply ask them to do their best and show the same positive attitude they have shown all year.

Girls Football Year 3&4 Final

Our girls played last night in the Telford Year 3&4 Girls final. The score was 2-2 at the end of extra time. Unfortunately, we then lost on penalties. Miss Hedges reported the girls were wonderful throughout.

Cross Country

Another well done to all the children who ran in the Telford Cross Country League. We finished this week with a tough race at Chetwynd Park. Full results will follow in a few weeks. I would like to say a particular well done to a number of year six children who have run in every race since year 3. This is an incredible commitment over a number of years. The children concerned are:

Rhys Taylor

Charlie Preece

Jack Sylvester

Dan Williams

Sophie Pitchford

Tom Cooksey

British Values Day-Friday 12th May. Tolerance and Respect

We will be holding another British Values Day on Friday. The theme for the day will be tolerance and respect. Each class will look at these two key values during the day.

Church Service at St George’s

We will be going to St George’s church on Friday 26th May. We will be combining the theme of ‘Who is your neighbour’ with a focus on our charity work this year for Save the Children. There will be a collection on the day for our focus charity this year. Parents are welcome to attend and share the assembly with us.

Daily Run Day

Many children are using the all-weather running track for their daily run. Those who have run every day can dress down on Friday 12th May. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you are unsure if your child has run or not.
