Teaching and Learning in Music, Art and Drama

"Pupils are very excited about the wide range of interesting activities both in school and beyond the school day." Ofsted 2014

The development of ‘The Arts’ is a fundamental part of the school ‘Vision Statement’. The whole School community believes that all children need to experience art, music and drama to realise their full potential.

The School organises the curriculum to provide a structured programme for all the children in ‘The Arts’. We have various choirs for different ages of pupils. Children have the opportunity for instrumental music tuition in school. All children will have an opportunity to perform in our weekly ‘Celebration Assembly’. We have regular music workshops and recitals. The school works extensively with Wrockwardine Wood Performing Arts School on a variety of musicals.

This musical tradition enriches our regular services and celebrations at St George’s Church.

The older children have a ‘Leaver’s Concert’ and Prize Giving at the end of their last term. Performances have included, ‘Joseph’ and ‘Gel’, ‘Holiday and a Half’ and ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’.

Arts weeks at St George’s have become a regular feature during the year .We have linked our Arts Week theme to various aspects of the curriculum.
